COMBINATION
Horseback riding in the LaSal Mountains, located southeast
of Moab, adds a high country experience to go with your river
expedition. Abundant pine and aspen, wildflowers, and wildlife--so
near to the desert--will surprise you.
LaSal Mountains in combination with Raft Colorado River/Cataract
Canyon (5 days, 4 nights)
This combination horseback/Colorado River trip through Cararact
Canyon in Canyonlands National Park allows you to experience
the best of the southwest. This trip meets at the Adrift Adventures
office at 9:00 a.m. An hour drive to the base of the La Sal
Mountains is the beginning of your journey. The landscape changes
from cool alpine on horse to the colorful red rock country in
rafts. You'll spend two days and one night exploring the high
country. Trails wind through the stands of pine and aspen, past
open meadows splashed with wildflowers. Wildlife--especially
deer is abundant, as are the views of the adjacent desert. Return
the following day to Moab early afternoon for an overnight stay
in one of our local Moab hotels.
The
next morning you depart for a three-day Cataract Canyon river
trip. You'll have an excellent time with a return the third
day on the river to Moab at approximately 3:00 pm.

Welcome to the spectacular Colorado Plateau and Canyonlands region of Southeastern Utah. Virtually every mile of this four day and three night trip showcases the grand scale of Mother Nature's work.
Saddle up and horseback ride the historic outlaw trails, where Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch evaded the law. Come ride the serpentine red rock canyons and pass eerie rock formations with layers of geologic history. Wander routes once traveled by ancient civilizations.
On our four-wheel off-road tour, you can travel through washes and thread your way through interlocking canyons. These remote areas of the desert surround you with thousand foot cliffs and three hundred million years of Earth's history written in multicolored rock layers. Indian rock art with interpretation on archeology and geology will get you a glimpse into the historic past.
During the evening enjoy our Moab hospitality with an overnight stay and dinner at one of the many restaurants in town. After breakfast in the morning you'll depart for three days and two nights on the Colorado River through Cataract Canyon, This incredible trip travels through the heart of Canyonlands National Park.

Monument Valley is world-famous as a Navajo Tribal Park and
as the backdrop for numerous Western films. Mesas, buttes and
pinnacles have eroded over eons to form this magical land.

Bluff, Utah/Raft Cataract Canyon-Colorado River Canyonlands
National Park
Welcome and "yah-ta-hey" to spectacular Monument Valley,
which is located west of the four corners region of the United
States on U.S. Highway 163. The first Navajo Tribal Park was
established on July 11, 1958 by the Navajo Tribal Council in
Window Rock, Arizona. The Navajo land is approximately 25,000
square miles. The population of the Navajo people totals more
than 159,000.
Monument valley is partly in Arizona and Utah. There are many
mesa's, buttes and slender towering pinnacles that have eroded
over the vast area. This magic land is highly scenic, unique
and unlike any other place in the world. Most formations are
brillantly red, orange, purple and even bluish color.
This trip departs from the Adrift Adventures office at 9:00
a.m. for a scenic drive from Moab to Monument Valley. At Monument
Valley you'll be picked up by members of the Totem Pole Tours
Company a Navajo based organization.. Your land tour will take
you to cultural sites, petroglyphs, pictographs and many Anasazi
Indian dwellings. The evening will showcase a Navajo ceremonial
dance and cookout. Camp under more stars than you can imagine!
After breakfast the next morning you'll return to the the visitor
center and drive 45 minutes to the historic town of Bluff. You'll
horseback where John Wayne, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
roamed. Zane Grey wrote "Riders of the Purple Sage"
in these red cliffs and incredible rock formations. After lunch
you'll drive to Moab for an overnight stay, followed by a 7:30
a.m. departure for a three-day Cataract Canyon trip the next

ONE-DAY
HORSEBACK/RIVER COMBINATION
This combination trip includes a river trip on the Colorado
River (see trip description for AM/PM 1/2 day river). No persons over 220 lbs. or children
under eight years in age. (Please note only Options 3 available in April and October, with horseback ride only available at 10:00 a.m.)
Option #1 - Raft and Horseback - Meet at 8:15
a.m. Depart at 8:30 a.m. (no lunch) with return back to Moab
at approximately 12:30 p.m. Meet at Red Cliffs Ranch at 3:45
p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. horseback ride departure and return approximately
7:00 p.m.
Option #2 - Raft and Horseback - Meet
at 11:00 a.m. Depart at 11:15 a.m. with lunch on the river.
With this trip you'll need to supply your own transportation.
You'll follow our bus up the river road to the trip's ending
point, leave your car, load our bus and then proceed up river
for the afternoon river trip. At the end of the rafting trip
you'll load back into your vehicle and proceed 3 miles up the
river to Red Cliffs Ranch for a late afternoon trail ride. Trip
meets at 3:45 p.m. and departs at 4:00 p.m. with a return at
approximately 7:00 p.m.
Option #3 - Split the trip into Two Days
- Choose either the AM (8:15 no lunch) or PM (11:00 with lunch)
river trip for one day and either horse back trail ride the
other day in the AM (8:15) or late PM (3:45). No meals provided.
